galileo's 1600s
in 1610 galileo turned his telescope
toward the heavens and set off a
revolution in astronomy. his meticulous
recordings of jupiter and saturn along
with his observations of the moon
and venus proved copernicus
and kepler's theory of a sun centered
solar system correct. these are models
of the 2 existing scopes galileo made
along with his original lens. today
the scopes are housed in a museum
in italy. there is not much to move
on these scopes. there is glass
in the scopes and they have draw
tubes. this is a very close copy
of the real scopes, and are mapped,
logically named and linked.
